The Republicans met in Tampa Bay, Florida on August 27-30. Threatened by a hurricane, the events of the first day were canceled or moved, largely to Tuesday afternoon. While most of the satellite events went ahead as planned, the delegate busses did not bring people into Tampa from the many outlying hotels on Monday, reducing attendance. Protest rallies and marches were undeterred by the weather, but long-distance busses were canceled so fewer people came than expected.
